She looks good…

Shirley (aka Mom) reading a letter.  It’s hard to weather the storms she has weathered over the last 18 months.  Standing on the sidelines isn’t easy either.  I share that with Mildred.  Both of us have spent the better part of the last year and a half worrying about Mom.  It makes this time together for the three of us that much more precious.  Each of us  know that life can change in a minute.

This was the first time I had seen Mom since she had her last surgery in August.  I watched her reading and thought to myself how lucky I am to have her back to her old self, and to still have my Mimi.

If you look closely my mother wears a mustard seed as a necklace for the parable of the mustard seed. If you have just a little bit of faith, as small as a mustard seed, you can move mountains.  When Mimi and Bump dropped Mom at University they gave her a mustard seed.  The one Mom now wears is one she gave me when I was running my first and only marathon.  I gave it back to her when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Faith is powerful… as is belief.  And I believe this mustard seed has helped each of us move mountains.
