Family Treasure 2
I’m not proud of this photo. I even reviewed this with my mentor – Peter Poulides of the Spot Studio – and it isn’t a good shot. I totally had the wrong lens on the camera. The lighting isn’t flattering for everyone (although I have to say that I think everyone looks pretty spectacular). It isn’t well composed. In other words, it is not technically a good photo.
BUT…. it is a PM Family moment in time that will not be captured again. We are all happy. We are all healthy. And we are all together (except for SW). And for that reason… It is a treasure.
Family Treasures
I love the teapot….always have. My grandfather Fielding always said to me “that’s yours, you know” – it was to him very valuable, and was the only thing that he owned or had in his house that he assigned to one person – me. I was always honored by his gift and always cherished it. When you told me how much you loved it and wanted it some day it was with great joy I could give it to you.
Shirley aka Mom…..
This would be the perfect pot for brewing the tea to accompany the biscuits and lemon cheese.
This was Great Grammy Fielding’s mother’s recipe from England. It is nice on morning toast. Mildred Fielding aka Mimi…..
English Lemon Cheese (aka Lemon Curd)
1 cup sugar
3 eggs well beaten
2-3 lemons rind and juice
1 Tablespoon butter
Put altogether in double boiler
Stir all the time until as thick as honey. Pour into a glass jar with cover.
Mushroom Sausage Quiche
1/4 lb sausage meat browned
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1/3 cup minced onion or scallions
4 Tablespoons butter
1 cup grated swiss cheese
3 eggs well beaten
1 cup milk
1 10” pie shell (unbaked)
Saute mushrooms and onions in butter. Add to sausage meat and spread evenly over bottom of pie shell. Sprinkle cheese over meat and vegetable. Mix eggs and milk together and pour over all. Bake at 375 until puffy and light brown. Remove from oven and serve immediately. Bake about 45 minutes.
What Shirley doesn’t know….
(And there are very few things).. is that biscuits go with everything! In a funny phone conversation Shirley (aka Mom) mentioned that a nice challah roll was the perfect touch for the BBQ. Guess what? Joann’s biscuits ruled the day – someone we know, who shall remain nameless, had 4. At one point there was even discussion about KC making more! They were equally perfect with the BBQ, Bacon, Quiche and Strawberries. Delicious.
Good luck… usually no fail. Joann Campbell to Keary regarding the biscuits
