Bishop Arts as seen through the eye of my friend and mentor Steve Wong

I first me SW through work and was inspired by his creative spirit.  I later learned to appreciate his kindness and generosity.  When I first developed an interest in photography, SW was there to encourage and empower me.  And we have enjoyed many outings around the globe – Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, his homes and mine – shooting and sharing.  I believe him to be incredibly gifted as a photographer and as a human.

For this birthday, I am honored to have received one of Steve’s black and whites.  And today I share with you two photos that were taken in January 2012 during an evening visit to Bishop Arts.   I encourage you to visit Steves website at http://stevewongbk.tumblr.com or to visit 500px.com and type in Steve Wong to see the depth and breadth of his work.  Please take a moment and share with him your favorites.  It means a great deal to him.

Steve taught me that the capture of the moment and to see it through someone else’s eyes is the value of photography – for that moment or that perspective will never be repeated.  I have come this year to appreciate and understand it differently.  The inspiration for the blog came from a moment with my grandmother and the interest to share the journey with whomever wanted to come along.  Aren’t I the fortunate one for the people who chose to travel with me?

Thank you Steve.
